The Y Ti Golden Season 2026 race held on September 6, 2026, witnessed one of the most memorable moments in trail running. Overcoming the steep mountain paths, Van Trang (nicknamed Jang Doll) excellently won the top female position in the 42km category. Notably, this 4-child mother born in 2026 proudly took the overall top 2 position, beating nearly all the male runners (only losing to one person) with a time of 4 hours 26 minutes.
However, alongside the proud championship on the 2860-meter-high Lảo Thẩn peak, she also faced a wave of discussion through her extremely honest response to some netizens' negative comments about her appearance.
The 42km trail path in Y Ti (Lào Cai) has a total accumulated elevation of over 1300 meters. The steep terrain and thin air in the highlands are always a nightmare for any runner.
Speaking about the moment of exhausting all strength to conquer the mountain peak, Van Trang shared with the reporter: 'The 42km category has some steep sections that make the body almost depleted of energy. At that time, I only focused on each section of the road ahead, maintaining breathing rhythm, distributing strength and supplementing energy at the right time. I always reminded myself: 'Stay calm, as long as there is strength, there is still opportunity'. This endurance comes from regularity and discipline. Besides running, I combine gym, swimming and various supplementary exercises to accumulate physical strength every day'.
Run with feet, not by people's mouths!
Right after stepping down from the podium, Van Trang's image suddenly appeared in some running groups for tasteless discussion when they focused on her 'figure' under the tight sports outfit, even using the phrase 'carrying two grapefruits while running' to mock.
Not choosing to stay silent, the female runner immediately responded directly and harshly: 'Let me tell the truth, who do you think is carrying two grapefruits running 42km or 55km on mountain roads! I run with my feet, not because of my appearance. People feel pressure, I feel that is the motivation 'to receive vitamin C' for the spirit. The important thing is I still reached the finish, still healthy and happy. As for criticism, just criticize, I run with my own feet, not by people's mouths!'.
The runner from Hanoi straightly expressed the wish that the public should have a more civilized view of 'sports beauties': 'For women who play sports, the first thing they should be recognized is effort and achievement. Appearance is a personal matter, while achievement is the result of years of training. When I see a girl running, I hope everyone sees a person striving to conquer their own limits'.
She declared: 'Run with feet, not by people's mouths!'.
Facing the question of whether to wear more modest or loose clothing to avoid stares, the champion of Y Ti firmly said: 'Sports clothing must first be comfortable and safe. If I change myself just because of fear of comments, perhaps I will always live according to others' eyes. I choose to focus on the running path and my goals. Marathon taught me that not always I run in perfect conditions. Life is the same. Compliments make me happy, criticism helps me reflect, while malicious words I learn to ignore'.
The glory at Lảo Thẩn ended, the next goal of the 4-child mother is to conquer the more intense Ultra Trail 70km category at the upcoming VMM 70km race and at the end of the year the 100km content.
'Let achievements speak. I don't need to become the version others want to see. Just becoming a better version of myself every day is enough', Van Trang expressed determination for the next journey.
